A Message From Our CEO
Dear Make-A-Wish Friends,
We know you are hearing a lot of information about COVID-19 and its effect on Nebraska, its residents, businesses and non-profit organizations.
The mission of Make-A-Wish Nebraska, as always, is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. That is why, in support of current medical and public concerns, we are taking steps to ensure the health and safety of our Make-A-Wish Nebraska wish kids and their families, as well as our partners and supporters.
At this time, Make-A-Wish Nebraska has made the difficult decision to postpone all wish travel, as well as statewide events and group gatherings, until further notice.
We believe these are the right decisions to make for our wish kids, our wish families, our volunteers, our staff and our supporters. We want to assure you we are doing our best to accommodate all the families we serve.
Because of COVID-19 postponements, there will be more wish kids waiting for wishes than ever before. We estimate more than 20 Nebraska wishes could be delayed by COVID-19 related postponements in March, April, and May with 10 to 15 more added each month as restrictions continue. We cannot do it alone. These wishes will need financial support when the postponements end. Your help today will bring hope and joy to Nebraska wish kids in your community.
We will continue to keep you informed as we learn more about the impact to wish kids and their families – and how you can shine a light of hope for them during their wish journey.
We thank you, on behalf of the children and families we serve, for your continued support during these uncertain times.
