bats 1000 against “The Rocket,” legendary Roger Clemens,
during his wish to attend the 2004 Major League Baseball Home
Run Derby and All-Star Game.
Michael and his
family live and breathe baseball, so it made complete sense
that his only wish was to attend the 2004 Major League Baseball
Home Run Derby and All-Star Game in Houston. Michael has battled
neuroblastoma and patiently waited for over a year for his
wish, which was enhanced with six tickets to the College World
Series in Omaha to make the wait a bit more bearable.
Armed with two
baseball bats for autographs from each team, Michael was able
to see his favorite players on the field for both major events,
and his family said they were all treated like “all-stars.”
Michael and his family were guests at the same hotel as all
of the other special guests invited for the All-Star weekend—both
past and present major league players and their families.
After his wish,
Michael wrote:
“Thank you for
sending my family and me to Houston for the All-Star weekend.
It was fantastic! Right from the beginning, with the limo
ride to the airport, it was all so much fun. I had a great
time, and I know my family did too. It was even better when
I got to come home and tell my teammates that I am batting
1.000 against Roger Clemens. All around it was a great trip.
Thanks again!”
