The day Summer’s pool was installed was such
an exciting one, that Summer had to take a nap – in her
new “Dora the Explorer” swimsuit, of course! Her mom said
that she was so excited, every time someone came to the
door, she asked if they were here to install her new pool.
The day of the installation, Summer’s mom said, “Last night
she didn’t sleep a wink. She’s passed out now.”
Thanks to Jewelers for Children, Summer’s
wish was made possible, and will be enjoyed by her family,
which includes mom, dad, sisters, Gina and Christeena, and
brother, Douglas, Jr.
Summer, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic
leukemia, received her pool just in time for her fourth
birthday. The pool came complete with water, compliments
of the Fort Calhoun Fire Department, pool toys, a Dora the
Explorer swimsuit (which we hear she is still wearing to
bed), beach towels and a party, including her favorite food:
hot dogs.
“The Make-A-Wish Foundation kind of blew us
away with this,” said Summer’s mom. “It’s just priceless
to see the look on your daughter’s face.”
