Nathan's wish to go to the All-Star Game

Nathan meets his heros

“ If they could beat the cancer, he could too. ”

At school, Sixteen-year-old Nathan plays the Trombone in the pep band and his favorite class is social studies. In his free time, Nathan loves fishing and basketball, but his favorite activity? Baseball! While he was fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Nathan’s mind kept going back to baseball and he focused on the game and how badly he wanted to play it to help get him through his treatments. While researching MLB players, he found two of them who had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and survived it- Anthony Rizzo and Jon Lester. These two players became his role models, and Nathan thought that if they could beat the cancer, he could too! This was what prompted him to go to the MLB All-Star Game for his wish, which was granted in July, 2015.

Nathan and his family had the trip of a lifetime and were completely stunned by everything they were able to do! The opening night of the MLB game featured a Demi Lovato concert, and Nathan and the other three Make-A-Wish boys became fast friends. Meeting Snoop Dogg and all of the baseball players were the highlights of the trip and they got so many autographs they ran out of room on the baseballs they brought and had to find more! Taking a break from the All-Star festivities, they went to the aquarium and got a behind the scenes tour where they pet Paula the Penguin and walked over the infamous shark bridge! One last surprise before they left was meeting the Baseball Commissioner, Rob Manfred and some of the other MLB legends who were hanging out in the suite with him!

“This trip was truly one that I will never forget from the people I met, the friends I made and all of the once in a lifetime things I got to do. It was my wish come true. Thank you all very much.” – Nathan
